About Myofascial Release

Fascia

Fascia is a sticky, web-like substance

that covers the whole body from head to toe. It wraps and supports the muscles, bones, organs, tendons, blood vessels, etc. We now know that each strand or tubule of the fascia is filled with water which hydrates our cells allowing for freedom of movement.  When we develop postural patterns from injuries, surgeries, and trauma, emotional and physical, the fascia can stick together restricting movement causing pain and limitations.

Benefits of Myofascial Release

This gentle technique has a deep and lasting impact on your body. It incorporates prolonged stretching which reshapes the fascia. Holding a stretch for 5-7 minutes facilitates a chemical effect that 'melts' or 'unwinds' the fascia. The structures underneath have more room to move and reshape themselves.  increases the circulation of blood which hydrates your cells for better movement and balance. These are just a few benefits of myofascial release and unwinding.
